DARE To Be You Forming New Groups that Support School, Family Success

Recently the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB) announced that new Dare To Be You groups are forming in Fredericksburg and Stafford County this fall. DARE To Be You – Rappahannock Area offers valuable family-strengthening techniques and skill-building opportunities for the entire family. There is no charge to participate; click here to learn more about the two program start dates and locations.

DARE To Be You is a series of interactive workshops where families can learn and improve communication, relationship, and problem-solving skills. The program has been shown to foster school success. The workshops, led by experienced parent educators, are interactive and include games and other activities. A family meal is provided at every session to enhance quality family time, and there are incentives for attending and completing the 10-week program.

Participating in the DARE To Be You program helps families communicate more effectively and learn positive parenting approaches while boosting the child’s development level. The program is available for all families and welcomes the participation of extended family members such as grandparents.

This program is a great example of one way that we can support the positive development of children and families. Have you participated in a program like this? If yes, based on your experience, what goals would you suggest we adopt community-wide for supporting the education and health of children and families?

If you haven’t participated, what inspires you about programs like this when you consider the education and health needs of families in our area?
